Charlotte Crosby’s career turnaround – from Sunderland bar job to Geordie Shore millionaire

It’s been quite a 10 years for Charlotte Crosby, who, after finding fame on Geordie Shore is now a multi-millionaire.

The now 31-year-old has been a regular on TV screens ever since she burst into the spotlight as one of the original cast members on the Newcastle set show.

And the moment that turned her whole life around was when she spotted an advert for people to apply for Geordie Shore, being billed as the UK’s answer to wild American series Jersey Shore.

With a view to studying Criminology at university, Charlotte was doing an Access course at college when she sent off her details to MTV and has since revealed that her mam Letitia was horrified at the news that she’d be turning her back on her studies to find TV fame.

Speaking on Geordie Shore: Their Story last year, Charlotte said: “The day I walked in and said ‘Mam, I’ve got to quit the Access course, I’m going on Geordie Shore….oh I wish I took a picture of her face…it was hilarious!

“It was so funny, she was like ‘No! No, you can’t do that! You’re in college, you just sort it out, you’ve nearly done your Access course, you’re gonna get into uni Charlotte, you can’t! You can’t do that!”

“You can’t go on some stupid TV show. I don’t want you too, you can’t do it.”

Charlotte did an access course after studying for her GCSEs and A-Levels at St Anthony’s all girls school in Sunderland.

And, when she wasn’t studying, Charlotte worked in city centre bar Ttonic, a job she still has fond memories of.

She opened up on her time behind the bar at Ttonic on Instagram when she was asked where her favourite was to go for a night out in Sunderland.

Sharing a picture of Ttonic, she wrote: “I worked here for five and a half years from the age of 16 to right before Geordie Shore.

I remember my last day here and all my friends from work giving me leaving cards and presents. A sad but exciting day knowing I was off to go and TV and show.”

When Geordie Shore debuted on MTV in the summer of 2011, it didn’t take long for Charlotte to become a real fan favourite, with her on/off again romance with co-star Gaz Beadle, giving the show one of its biggest storylines.

And it wasn’t just on Geordie Shore that Charlotte proved popular with viewers.

Two years later she beat a whole host of household names to win Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5.

Three years later, in a huge shock to fans, Charlotte quit Geordie Shore, in the aftermath of suffering a traumatic ectopic pregnancy, with her and Gaz’s baby.

Gaz was off filming Ex on the Beach at the time and Charlotte laid into him on Twitter as she confirmed she was walking away from the show that made her famous.

Speaking about the trauma of the ectopic pregnancy last year, Charlotte revealed her life was at risk telling cameras: “I was literally on the verge of dying, if I’d left it any longer I just wouldn’t be here. My fallopian tube had split open and I’d been internally bleeding for a week.”

After quitting Geordie Shore, Charlotte landed her own MTV series The Charlotte Show, as well as hosting long-running programme Just Tattoo With Us and starring in the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity.

She was also heard on the airwaves with a stint as Breakfast Show host on Capital North East.

As well as being a popular TV personality, Charlotte is also an astute businesswoman, having a successful partnership with leading fashion brand In The Style, as well as her own label Pepper Girls Club.

She also has her own home interiors company Naked Lane, and has topped both the DVD and book charts twice.

.All of her success over the past decade has earned Charlotte an estimated fortune of over £2.3million.

She turns fans green with envy with pictures and video look arounds of the two mansions she owns on the outskirts of Sunderland, as well as insights into her luxury trips abroad, most recently to the Hard Rock resort in the Maldives and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
