Everywhere in the North East with a zero star food hygiene rating

Takeaways, bars and fruit and veg shops are are among the most unhygienic venues in the North East.

Several establishments across the region currently have a dreaded zero star food hygiene rating.

The data, published by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), reveals there are currently eight venues with a zero star rating.

However there’s a big disparity between the region’s councils. Currently there are no zero star rated venues in either Newcastle, Gateshead or South Tyneside.

Meanwhile there are three apiece Northumberland and two apiece in County Durham and North Tyneside.

Venues who are handed a poor score can ask to be reinspected, although that comes at a cost.

However, websites such as Just Eat won’t list a venue with a zero star rating and those that fail to clean up their act could ultimately face prosecution.

These are the North East venues that the FSA say have a zero star rating.
