A 5k and 3k race took place in Sunderland on Saturday, with a string of Covid-related rules in place to help keep runners and volunteers safe
Scores of people hit the streets for the first mass running event in the region since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Sunderland City Runs 2021 was back this weekend with Covid-safe rules in place to help keep runners and volunteers safe.
The event includes 5K, 10K and half marathon races and attracts thousands of people overall.
The 5k race, which started on the Northern Spire bridge, took place on Saturday, as well as a 3k for children. The other two are scheduled for Sunday.
The Sunderland City Runs are being organised through a partnership between Events of the North, Sunderland City Council and their Active Sunderland team, supported by Everyone Active, the University of Sunderland and the Grand Hotel.
