Tribute to the ‘lovely shy’ Layton Darwood
Lovingly kissing his devoted mum, this is tragic Layton Darwood, whose death has united the city in grief.
Friends, family, businesses and complete strangers from across the North East have come together to support the five-year-old’s heartbroken parents as they prepare to lay their precious boy to rest.
Layton died in hospital last Monday after being involved in a collision with a white Ford Transit van, on Willow Avenue in Fenham, Newcastle, near his home.
Since the tragedy around £10,000 has been raised to help pay for his funeral through Facebook raffles and an online fundraising page
And today a close friend of the youngster’s mum, who set-up ‘Layton’s Fund’, has paid tribute to the little boy as she thanks the community for their support.
Maxine Forster said: “He was lovely. He was a quiet little boy and quite shy. He loved Spiderman. He was so cute, he was lush. I just can’t believe this has happened.”
