Tickets to travel from Newcastle to London by coach cost from as little as £4.99 with a new service extended to the North East this week.

FlixBus, which describes itself as the UK’s fastest-growing and most innovative intercity-coach provider, has added both Newcastle and Sunderland to its network.

From this week onwards, the company will expand its service to 10 new UK-destinations serving more than 60 domestic routes, including its first stops in the North East.

Andreas Schorling, Managing Director FlixBus UK, said: “We are excited to offer convenient travel to people from Newcastle and Sunderland.

“This is a great time for people in the UK to discover their own country and do so sustainably travelling by coach.

“Whereas coach travel is already very popular across the UK, we believe that the market still has the potential to grow.

“Thus far, we have received strong support from the industry to bring in an alternative and a new player that is approaching operators as partners.”

Coaches are departing from Newcastle three times a day every day of the week heading head towards London, Leeds and Sheffield.

The cheapest ticket on its website from Newcastle to London is £4.99 plus a £1 transaction service fee. Tickets to London from Sunderland cost from around £9.99 with a £1 transaction service fee.
