What time do the shopping centres open on Boxing Day? – Metro Centre, Eldon Square, The Bridges, The Galleries, Dalton Park

With a busy Christmas period crammed with the usual exchange of gifts, there’s no doubt that many will flock to shopping centres across the region to make the most of the annual Boxing Day sales.

But with that all being said, the likes of the Metro Centre, Eldon Square and other popular centres run on special operating times due to the business of the festive period – so it’s always wise to check what time your local closes.

Centres across the North East have released their official opening times leading up to Boxing Day and New Year, to keep shoppers informed over the hectic festive time frame.

Many shopping parks and centres will also be closed on New Year’s day, however, Murton’s Dalton Park have announced that they will keep their doors open, for shoppers to make the most of.

Here’s the official list of opening times for shopping centres across the North East.

Eldon Square – Newcastle:

Boxing Day – 11am until 5pm
27, 28 & 29 December – 9am until 6pm
30 December – 9am until 8pm
New Year’s Eve – 9am until 5pm
New Year’s Day – Closed

The Metrocentre – Gateshead:

Boxing Day – 11am until 5pm
27, 28, 29 & 30 December – 9am until 9pm
New Year’s Eve – 9am until 5pm
New Year’s Day – Closed

The Bridges – Sunderland:

Boxing Day – 9am until 5.30pm
27, 28 & 29 December – 9am until 5.30pm
30 December – 9am until 8pm
New Year’s Eve – 9am until 5pm
New Year’s Day – Closed

The Galleries – Washington:

Boxing Day – 10am until 4pm
27 December – 10am until 4pm
28, 29 & 30 December – 9am until 5.30pm
New Year’s Eve – 9am until 5.30pm
New Year’s Day – Closed

Dalton Park – Murton:

Boxing Day – 10.30am until 4.30pm
27, 28, 29 & 30 December – 10am until 6pm
New Year’s Eve – 10am until 5pm
New Year’s Day – 11am until 5pm

Shoppers are as always reminded to adhere to strict social distancing measures in place, as set out by the UK Government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 – such as wearing a mask upon visiting.
